Power in Giving Back: Lending a Helping Hand to Veterans through BootPrint

In preparation for the 2026-2027 school year, BootPrint provided back-to-school fun and supplies for Army Reserve families. CarolinaPower’s Crystal Burnett (second from left).

CarolinaPower employees strive to be a positive influence at work, at home and in the communities they serve.  Our Greenville office manager, Crystal Burnett, is a long-time, hands-on volunteer with BootPrint, a South Carolina-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by an Army veteran husband-and-wife team affiliated with the 391st Engineer Battalion, a U.S. Army Reserve combat support unit.

“I met BootPrint co-founder Tracy Sharp Robertson at an event 26 years ago and have been volunteering with the organization ever since. Even though I am not part of a military family, I wanted to give back to the community. I have been a Board member for nearly four years,” said Burnett.

BootPrint takes a holistic “boots on the ground” approach to helping those who have served our country, collaborating with veteran and civilian community resources, filling in the gaps in services, combating barriers, building resilience, and leaving their “bootprint.” Through programs such as Bags for the Brave and homeless-to-housing support, BootPrint provides practical assistance to homeless and vulnerable Veterans, including food, hygiene supplies, clothing, household essentials, and furnishings.

Every donation, partnership, and act of service helps BootPrint reach another veteran and remove another barrier. It was Burnett who encouraged BootPrint to apply for its initial grant from the PPC Foundation, which exists to pass prosperity back to the communities in which CarolinaPower and its sister PPC companies operate. BootPrint is now a repeat recipient of PPC grants.

Earlier this year, BootPrint had the opportunity to assist a CarolinaPower employee who was transitioning out of a difficult situation. For Burnett, it was extremely rewarding to see BootPrint’s mission come to life in such a personal way.

“Being involved with this organization means so much to me because it gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Having CarolinaPower’s support makes that impact even greater. The company’s commitment to giving back demonstrates the power of community partnerships and how much more we can accomplish when we come together.”

BootPrint: Leaving a Lasting Impression, One Veteran at a Time

BootPrint operates with an all-volunteer team. This entire initiative is executed seamlessly by volunteers, requiring zero paid staff; instead, the work is fueled by community donations, generous supporters, and the dedication of volunteers who give their time and resources to serve others.
